Is your international team
a group of talented professionals who try their best to perform while reading the music from their native places or a well tuned orchestra, who listen to each other as they play?
WORKING WITH A TEAM
IN AN INTERNATIONAL CONTEXT
"Diversity is a source of enrichment"
Cultural diversity increases problem solving ability. However this only works when differences are encouraged. It is not natural to automatically strive for diversity
in a team. As humans we prefer to work in predictable ways with others.
How do we establish trust?
To reduce the “shocks” it is essential that common objectives be shared from
the very start. This means preparing the playing field before the game by asking
simple questions:
• How do we communicate?
• Do we ask questions before giving an opinion or show more respect to gender and age?
• Do we have a minimum knowledge of where team members come from?
• Are there places where we can meet “non professionally”?
This can be a brick and mortar venue or a virtual space.
Today synergy is a ubiquitous term, but how many achieve it?
So that diversity is seen as positive and not damage limitation.
Do you benefit from the mixture of approaches of your team?
